Suzannesrite, you’re absolutely correct… Toolrest not secured, thumbs testing for roundness at the toolrest side, etc etc… If he carries on like that, its a matter of time until a finger is lost .. or worse.
Some very dangerous practices exhibited there.
ya i agree with gahousto i can make the flute of the duck call i just dont know how to make the sound board and stuff so if you could post videos on how to do that it would be awesome
thanks, you turn beautiful calls, i ordered the beall collet, so ill see how it works out. i have been turning calls on a wood mandrel between centers =) now ill be much better prepared.

It is olive wood and is a very hard and stable wood to work with for call making.

You can find a used one without much
trouble. Maybe $100 or $200 with tools.
I found my first one in the local paper for
$70, good luck.
