Download Plans: www.davidcolarusso.com This video documents the building of a Jeffersonian bookstand that I built for m fiancée’s birthday, based on the one found in Thomas Jefferson’s office at Monticello. It’s not exactly, a step-by-step, but it should be enough to point you in the right direction if you’d like to make one yourself. In fact, I enjoyed making it so much, and my student loans are so big, that I’m willing to build a few on commission (starting at 0, depending on your choice of wood). If you’re interested in talking it through, shoot me an email at: blogging @ davidcolarusso.com As a matter of cost comparison, here’s a handcrafted reproduction from bookstand World (50) bookstandworld.net And a reproduction from Monticello (8) www.monticellocatalog.org

Fascinating. I’m surprised this intelligent little invention hasn’t been mass manufactured.

SPLENDID GIFT and a cool video!
Even in today’s high-speed net-driven world, there are still many times when having fast access to old-school books is necessary for study, reference, creative writing and research. Jefferson had several inventions for improving productivity and efficiency. Check out his automatic letter-copier sometime!
I like the graphic depiction of the parts-assembly; it imparts a gestalt understanding that static plans cannot.
Very good work sir!
