The public option wouldn’t be “upending” anything. The point is to give people an OPTION. I don’t understand why people have a problem with this. Not to mention, if Medicare is in need of more money it doesn’t mean it’s not working. It doesn’t mean people aren’t happy with it.

I got a feeling that this health care by Obama is going down the tubes. It is an absolutely a shame that those in charge do not look at any European countries how health care is done those countries. Socialism? It is full of bull because those who are thinking this way are thinking red-communism..the fear or scare.. I really don´t think the Health Care Industry and allied companies real don´t give a hoot about the common man. Their concern is profit and profit alone.

43% of ukcare users report excellent rating for their healthcare, that is a failing grade. 23% of australians wait more than 4 months for ELECTIVE surgery. 27% of canadians wait 4 mo. for elective surgery. USA 5year prostate cancer patient survival rate is 100%…the UK is 77%
Those writing the bill are electing not to use it, makes you wonder? also the national socialist party in germany nationalized healthcare, auto industry, finance etc…sound familiar?

Guess what people, Health insurance is a LUXURY!!!! It is not the responsibility of the U.S. Government to provide you with a commodity. I guess you will want the government to pay your CAR INSURANCE to. You say we should look to Europe? Thier healthcare is in shambles, rationing of services, too few doctors, long waits for services. You think the ER’s are busy now wait for govt. healthcare! Get a job and pay your own way you pathetic wastes of skin and oxygen!

Adamolson, those countries healthcare systems are a lot better than the US. US healthcare system is a complete failure and 60 years behind! France itself ranks #1 in the best healthcare system!

smkdvr4, you sound like a slave! You know that? I am so sorry that people like yourself suck ass to Corporate Masters who do not give a fuck about you, and that your STUPIDITY is higher than your worthless pay checks!

Don’t talk about Europe you dumb ass american. It’s working for Europe, for Canada, and we are healthy happy people. You’re really sad…

the WHO ranked them number 1 not the french themselves. Fact is that 90% of french covered on this system are also paying out of their own pocket for suplemental insurance….sounds to me like the french people aren’t satisfied with their system.

Corp. America pays a ton of tax to your nationalized gov’t. where did you think that money came from? in private competition we have the FREEDOM of choice. when it is government mandated you are a slave to that system…so you are the one who trusts your gov’t enough to enslave yourself to their policies.
9. September 2009 at 4:04 pm
Quiet you dumbass european….what would you know about canada? what is sad is that you think you represent a population…
9. September 2009 at 4:09 pm
plus do you need another 20% of your paycheck going to the govt? i know i would foreclose if that happened…there are other costs too….bottom line is healthcare needs reform but the govt has a horrible track record of bureaucracy and is not good at cutting costs etc…and we can’t just keep printing money (see inflation) I guess I am a classic American who fears a large government but I think that is what makes this such a great place. we won’t lay down when Hitler comes into our town.

Apparently a lot more than you.. but that is probably the result of a normal education where you study foreign policies… and countries!!!! You did not receive that education (probably because it’s a LUXURY) and the result: you’re a dumb redneck…

Adamolson7, I totally disagree with both of your comments.

The problem is that Assurance Maladie has been in the red since 1989. This year the annual shortfall is expected to reach €9.4 billion ($13.5 billion), and €15 billion in 2010, or roughly 10% of its budget. this will happen to USA in the future, like social security.

How does Obama expect private health insurers to compete with a public option? For example Aetna paid their CEO Ronald A. Williams $40.2 Million in total compensation. The public option does not have a CEO to pay $40 million dollars to, the only way Aetna can compete would be to cut their CEO’s salary, the poor guy only makes $3 million a month, how can he support his family on less than 40 million dollars a year?

Yeah we should’nt spend any tax dollars on healthcare, well just have to remind the families of the 400 who die each day from lack of healthcare just how much money they are saving. “Your loved ones are Dead, but you saved a bundle in Taxes!”

the problem is that it is not substanable. just like social security is not substainable. Gov’t can’t run a business correctly. look at the post office versus FedEx. Everything a government does should be a business decision for the future for its people. There are to be no emotions in business. and to your comment, no one would save tax money. you would either spend more when the program operates at a deficit or you would spend the same but no one is getting a “savings”
