What are some things I could make for a first time woodworking project?

Woodworking Plans Q and A's

I’am looking for some woodworking classes, but Im wondering how most people learn, like trial and error or expierence?Would something like this be simple ( I have never made anything of wood) http://www.buildeazy.com/planterbox.html
Any ideas for someone who wants to start woodworking. Thanks.!

    the planter box would be a good first project. it will show you that it’s not that easy to just build a square box. also if size is not an issue build a picnic table. pretty easy but has a variety of cuts.

    Get a book on basic box building from Amazon.com. Boxes are fun and simple to make and will teach you the basic skills. You can also find free plans on the net.

    Remember that cabinets and most furniture are just bigger boxes.
