Go yo the library or any building center they have books that will guide you. You can take out a sbscription to the magazine "The Family Handyman". You could start watching programs on public TV like; This old house, Ask this old house or Home time,

there are several sources on the www or you can go to your local library and look in the non-fiction section starting around 684.00 in the good old dewey decimal system. i prefer the library because i can bring the plans with me wherever i go, a book usually has more info and/or several plans for various projects and i only get to keep it for three weeks so it imposes a deadline which helps me to get my butt in gear.
some web sites offer free plans, some charge a fee, some do both. i don’t have any links for you but it’s not too hard to do your own search.

popular woodworking magazine has articles under the title "i can do that" which is great for beginners, and people with minimal tools.
