Woodworking Plans Q and A's

I’d like to do some woodworking projects, but unfortunately I live in an apartment (which means that power tools are a bit out of the question). Are there shops that let people come in and use the tools to work on projects? How can I find them? (Yes, I’ve tried using google…)

My location is Lincoln, Nebraska, if this helps.

Thanks! :)

buy your own tools (battery powered) and rent a storage unit. going the route you want to would be a burden on the other employees & a liability factor.

Best bet if you are just starting out is to take a course. Woodworking is not the thing you just want to try to learn on your own.

Once you do that, talk with the teacher. He will probably know of a coop work shop that you can rent time at.

r u plan to do as a hobby or to earn money on the side? Some high school has wood shop class, but once a week take a long time unless u make woodcraft. If u try to earn money, suggest u find a low rent place, make sure your zone area allow u to do wood work, also the permit and law before u rent the place. I don’t know what ordinance require in ur city. good luck to u as 1 woodwork to another

Your local high school should be able to tell, perhaps they have night classes

Maybe you best bet would be to put a creative add in the paper to see if someone would like to share some woodworking with you. maybe a home supply store has a bulletin board that you can put an ad on. Fear of insurance claims against the home owner would be a big problem, so a legal waiver might be in order before someone lets you work in their shop. I always wanted to start a woodworking club just for people like you, but I don’t have the money or location yet. It would have a power tool station with safety rails around each one, Floor techs walking around helping people and maintaining the equipment, changing blades and so on, I would sell different types of woods, project plans, People can even bring in their own projects and repair them such as a old dresser or furniture, I would hope to bring the young and the old together and help the community in a very big way, but of course someone will find a way to make it illegal or try and sue me out of business. I really could enjoy making a living at something like this. and it will work. because their are so many things you can make with wood.
