Google SketchUp is rapidly becoming one of the more popular software packages within the woodworking community. Especially for home use. It’s a very powerful and user friendly 3D package that can design pretty much anything, once you’ve learned how to use it. Best of all, it’s FREE! A multitude of add-ons and libraries are available (from Google and 3rd Parties) to enhance the programs capabilities. Many of these are also free. Check it out.

There are several CAD type drafting programs. The original, and the absolute best, is ACAD from Autodesk. There is little you cannot do with this program. There are plenty of self help books on the market if you get a copy from someone and have no manual.

you could probably go to a hobby store or to any toy store and get some wood models u could build boats, planes, cars practically anything

Rather than actually building something, have you thought about getting into wood burning? It’s sometimes called pyrography. I’ve been doing it for about 3 years and I’m hooked!

There is a kids’ toy that functions as a small lathe, but at least one company that has lots of "real" micro" tools for model makers and miniaturists, etc., is MicroMark so you might want to check their site:

Similar or used tools like that may be found on e-bay, etc. too.

You can buy miniture lathes but they are as expensive (or more) than the full size version.
